Catawba County Schools Tutoring Program at Family Care Center

This program provides extra educational support for all school age children who reside at Family Care Center (a transitional housing program for families) no matter which Catawba County school system they attend.  $4,000 funded for the tutoring program.

Provide lifesaving education through Health & Safety and Disaster service departments.  Work to increase the amount of blood donors in our area in order to meet a growing demand for blood in our hospitals.  Continually respond to local disasters such as house fires and provide immediate services for those families as well as deploy local volunteers to assist with disasters wherever needed.  Provides service to Military families through Service to Armed Forces program.  $39,800 funded for emergency services program which provides emergency disaster response and relief.

Provides educational programming aimed at preventing adolescent pregnancy as well as prevention of suicide and other potentially harmful risk-taking behaviors.  Programs are available to parents of adolescents as well.  $30,000 funded to provide various educational and risky behavior preventative programs for teens.

The Mission of the Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, Inc. is to bring together the resources of the Christian community to serve the people in need of crisis assistance, support and education, in response to God’s call.  ECCCM serves those who are in crisis.  Whether due to unemployment, underemployment, sudden personal crisis, or other extenuating circumstances, ECCCM is a source of refuge in the storms of life.  $45,000 funded to provide crisis financial assistance for rent, utilities, fuel and pharmaceuticals.  $10,000 funded for the Crisis Assistance Coaching Program.

Offers transitional and permanent supportive housing for homeless recovering addicts, alcoholics, and formerly incarcerated people returning to our community from treatment programs and prison.  Exodus Homes has a comprehensive array of services to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our residents.  $44,000 funded to assist with housing and transportation costs for unemployed homeless recovering and previously incarcerated adults.

Specialized services for individuals and families experiencing the negative effects of anxiety, depression, divorce, stress, financial problems, domestic violence, child abuse, and other problems that threaten the stability of families.  $121,000 funded for the First Step Domestic Violence program to serve victims of domestic violence; $82,500 funded for Consumer Credit Counseling program to provide credit counseling assistance; and $100,000 funded to the Individual & Family Counseling program to assist in providing crisis counseling.

The Houston Transitional Living Center offers a supportive, residential, co-ed program for homeless, disadvantaged youth, providing them tools and opportunities to learn and practice successful independence. This program is designed for seventeen to twenty-one year-olds who do not have the financial, academic, emotional, or behavioral skills necessary for independent living.  $15,000 funded to provide a transitional housing program for teens.
