In partnership with the Hickory Motor Speedway, the Catawba County United Way hosted its 4th annual Race United event on Sept. 13, during HMS’s championship night for their season.
Along with being a free night of racing and fireworks, it was also an opportunity for community outreach. There was a non-profits Resource Fair and a food drive.
- Community Resource Fair - 21 non-profits attending
- Food Drive – approximately 2,200 non-perishable items collected (twice as much as 2024)
- Donations will be distributed to Ashure Ministry, Hickory Soup Kitchen, The Corner Table and The Salvation Army of Greater Hickory.
- 3 volunteers for a total of 12 combined hours.
- 1,911 in attendance for the championship races.
- 10 event sponsors to cover the cost of tickets to make it a free event and for fireworks.
